Our vision
Archived: This project is now closed, you can still read all about it.
In 2021 and 2022, we reviewed the Community Strategic Plan and vision for Eurobodalla's future. This plan all stems from our shared community vision statement. Eurobodalla's previous vision from the 2017 Community Strategic plan was:
- "We are friendly, responsible, thriving and proud."
We wanted to know if the vision still accurately reflected the community's vision for the future. To do this, we used virtual vision boards, surveys, activities for children and young people, and activities for groups so community members could tell us what's important to them.
We incorporated this feedback into our new Community Strategic Plan - Our Eurobodalla, 2042 - which includes the updated community vision:
- "From our beaches to our bushlands, rivers and mountains... Our Eurobodalla is a place of inclusive communities embracing sustainable lifestyles. Our future balances our natural assets and thriving economy. Our community is resilient and collaborative, and this underpins all that we do."
View the community's feedback
We asked people to:
- take a look at the virtual vision boards on this page - there is one board for each theme of the previous community vision:
- add words or pictures to the boards to tell us what each theme means to you now, or what it might mean in the future.
- think of these virtual vision boards as a place to brainstorm ideas about what's important to you, your family, and community.
- add ideas that didn't quite fit under one of these themes.
- complete a short survey about what you value about life in Eurobodalla now and in the future.
The vision boards and survey are now closed, but you can still see view the ideas people suggested.

georgie651over 1 year agoSolar
The ESC needs to embrace solar more widely, yes there’s evidence around the region of utilising this however new buildings it should be compulsory. For a country like Australia with copious amounts of sun, it’s ludicrous to not install, it’s cost saving. Keep it Aussie as well support Tindo in South Australia

I think of the link between Mossy Point and Moruya. Minimal road shoulders and 100kph in parts. I would love to be able to ride this road - but common sense says NO. Please develop a vision and plan for safe connections between communities. Yes the Moruya to South Head connection needs to be completed - but we need far more than this.

Brizoeover 1 year agoAllow Council’s audit committee to do its job
These days the audit committee is denied information by staff which would allow it to form proper judgements about major financial decisions. Also it is not used to investigate financial problems. It needs to be independent and more energetically managed.

The last shire wide land use strategy development commenced in 2001 and was only completed recently with the adoption of the rural LEP. The current surge in population growth demands an urgent review to bring town planning into line with recent environmental and other requirements. The current community must agree to renew historic zonings to avoid recent problems with zombie developments at Tuross and Dalmeney

2Panksiiover 1 year agoLaws and policies to prevent decimation of wildlife by cats
An increasing number of councils in Australia are finally taking action to address the threat of cats to Australian wildlife. Eurobodalla should be a leader amongst them, given the pristine yet vulnerable environment and wildlife the shire still enjoys. This means either cat bans altogether, especially where residential properties abut or are close to bushland. Failing that, laws to confine cats to properties, and failing that, night curfews and laws to require cats to be wearing cat bibs if they are outside during the day. Thankfully cats do not yet seem to be a huge problem in ESC - BUT with council's appetite for deforestation and urbanisation, this is inevitable unless brave and bold action is taken NOW to pre-emptively control this risk.

The stairways at Keith and Mavis Smith Park in Catalina, and Albert Ryan Park on Beach Road are very steep and quite treacherous at night (over 70 steps each) because NO lighting is installed. At night it is pitch black. This is an accident waiting to happen. There is a simple solution, Solar Lighting.
