Community Strategic Plan - Our vision
Archived: This project is now closed, you can still read all about it.
In 2021 and 2022, we reviewed the Community Strategic Plan and vision for Eurobodalla's future. This plan all stems from our shared community vision statement. Eurobodalla's previous vision from the 2017 Community Strategic plan was:
- "We are friendly, responsible, thriving and proud."
We wanted to know if the vision still accurately reflected the community's vision for the future. To do this, we used virtual vision boards, surveys, activities for children and young people, and activities for groups so community members could tell us what's important to them.
We incorporated this feedback into our new Community Strategic Plan - Our Eurobodalla, 2042 - which includes the updated community vision:
- "From our beaches to our bushlands, rivers and mountains... Our Eurobodalla is a place of inclusive communities embracing sustainable lifestyles. Our future balances our natural assets and thriving economy. Our community is resilient and collaborative, and this underpins all that we do."
View the community's feedback
We asked people to:
- take a look at the virtual vision boards on this page - there is one board for each theme of the previous community vision:
- add words or pictures to the boards to tell us what each theme means to you now, or what it might mean in the future.
- think of these virtual vision boards as a place to brainstorm ideas about what's important to you, your family, and community.
- add ideas that didn't quite fit under one of these themes.
- complete a short survey about what you value about life in Eurobodalla now and in the future.
The vision boards and survey are now closed, but you can still see view the ideas people suggested.

In the Eurobodalla women make up 51% of the population and need to be involved in decision making. Women need a seat at the table in council!

Robin Sover 2 years agoProud to prioritise sustainability over profit
Make sustainability (real not platitudes like offsetting) central to planning and development. Impose conditions on developers that protect the environment - such as all new homes must have solar and battery or solar water heating. Or No clear felling - ever. Let’s live the nature coast mantra and BE PROUD of being different

SusanCover 2 years agoSafe cycling / shared paths links between communities.
I think of the link between Mossy Point and Moruya. Minimal road shoulders and 100kph in parts. I would love to be able to ride this road - but common sense says NO. Please develop a vision and plan for safe connections between communities. Yes the Moruya to South Head connection needs to be completed - but we need far more than this.

4Stephover 2 years agoActions to follow the words “affordable housing”
It’s an imperative that our community and Council respond to the cry for more affordable housing. Affordable housing impacts local government areas such that it is Council and the community that are responsible for making changes in perception, behaviour and policy through education and compassion. One response is densification (which doesn’t have to be scary)…renting out your granny flat, or a room in your house for an affordable price, Council can encourage and incentivise such behaviour through development policy. A cry for housing doesn’t mean the only solution is to clear diminishing ecosystems and carbon sequestering systems to build more houses. Sensitive densification of existing housing stock is an option that doesn’t require carbon emitting material and processes. Another response Council has taken is opening land up for sale to a developer. Putting the conversation around respecting our natural environment aside, Council can negotiate with affordable housing providers as a first desire. With the responsibility of development, Council can and should also adopt policies that incentivises profiting developers to apportion a certain percentage of the land/housing stock for affordable housing.
8Dallis Tannerover 2 years agoMitigating effect of urban heat sinks, increased ambient temperature in urban areas.
In Eurobodalla Shire the Moruya area is at particular risk of increased ambient temperatures due to being 8km from the coast. I would like to see more shade trees, shrubs etc planted along pedestrian routes, play areas, sporting fields, car parks etc. I would like to see landscaping mandated in all new developments across the Shire. Sensible plantings of small trees, large shrubs that do not block sun on roof top solar panels or cause undue maintenance costs. Where clearing areas of vegetation for development there should be offset planting within the development to compensate. I would like to see management plans for parks with successional planning so that younger trees are planted well before older trees that are ailing are removed.

Stewartover 2 years agoLast Chance Saloon
Get serious about climate change. Value trees and forests. Don’t overdevelop, focus on conservation of environment and natural amenity. Be creative and lead the region in environmental responsibility. Make money through innovation not overdevelopment. The point of difference Eurobodalla still has is its natural beauty - focus on retaining and promoting that.

0Alison Wover 2 years agoEmbrace renewable and micro-grids for community energy resilience.
Our grid electricity travels a long way and loses efficiency along the way to reach us. Let's embrace the amazing opportunities of advances in renewables and battery and storage technology and generate power here where we can, to decrease our reliance on energy imported from afar.
2CathRover 2 years agoPrioritise and plan for sustainability, not growth.
A sustainable approach focuses on looking after what we have now, and planning how to retain it. Looking after housing equity, quality of life, environment, amenity, food security, employment. A Growth approach damages this.
