Our vision
Archived: This project is now closed, you can still read all about it.
In 2021 and 2022, we reviewed the Community Strategic Plan and vision for Eurobodalla's future. This plan all stems from our shared community vision statement. Eurobodalla's previous vision from the 2017 Community Strategic plan was:
- "We are friendly, responsible, thriving and proud."
We wanted to know if the vision still accurately reflected the community's vision for the future. To do this, we used virtual vision boards, surveys, activities for children and young people, and activities for groups so community members could tell us what's important to them.
We incorporated this feedback into our new Community Strategic Plan - Our Eurobodalla, 2042 - which includes the updated community vision:
- "From our beaches to our bushlands, rivers and mountains... Our Eurobodalla is a place of inclusive communities embracing sustainable lifestyles. Our future balances our natural assets and thriving economy. Our community is resilient and collaborative, and this underpins all that we do."
View the community's feedback
We asked people to:
- take a look at the virtual vision boards on this page - there is one board for each theme of the previous community vision:
- add words or pictures to the boards to tell us what each theme means to you now, or what it might mean in the future.
- think of these virtual vision boards as a place to brainstorm ideas about what's important to you, your family, and community.
- add ideas that didn't quite fit under one of these themes.
- complete a short survey about what you value about life in Eurobodalla now and in the future.
The vision boards and survey are now closed, but you can still see view the ideas people suggested.

Council can be more active in supporting Community Housing Providers or be directly involved in investing in or making land available for social and affordable housing.

Thriving does NOT mean massive development. Environmentally friendly and sustainable development that allows a community to appreciate the natural environment of the Eurobodalla is what ‘thriving’ is. Have a strong regional plan for sustainable development - avoiding the cumulative impact of ongoing ad-hoc developments on the natural environment and local amenity should be a major focus.

0Susanalmost 2 years agoHighlight the strengths and assets of our region to audiences outside Eurobodalla
In a way that supports eco-friendly, sensitive and sustainable tourism, attract visitors to experience the best the region has to offer, supporting our economy but retaining the character and unique attributes of the region.
1Fairy_wrenalmost 2 years agoLet's lose the hateful, nasty vibe for a culture of speaking with dignity and listening with respect to each other and in public forums
It costs nothing to be nice
6SusanCalmost 2 years agoSupporting housing initiatives for low income families.
Identifying council land for partnership projects. Encouraging second homes to be rented out on a permanent basis. Providing long term options for those in caravans. In other words Council action to assist in addressing the growing numbers of homeless in Eurobodalla.
6Alison Walmost 2 years agoValue our street trees and native tree corridors as a part of our cultural heritage too.
Echoing the comment that we invest in and provide support to maintain and manage our unique heritage places and structures, let's include our street trees in that and have a succession plan for trees as they age or need removal.

Ian Crabbalmost 2 years agoOur region attracts many visitors and we have an obligation to provide basic facilities for them.
There are no toilet facilities accessible close to the Melville Point carpark and Barlings Beach. People are defaecating at the end of Tomakin cove and yesterday a woman and child were urinating by the path as we walked up from the cove.
0Susanalmost 2 years agoSignage and information
Information and communication that is accessible: signage. Stories, cultural and historical, with context 'of the place'.
1SusanCalmost 2 years agoSafe cycling / shared paths links between communities.
I think of the link between Mossy Point and Moruya. Minimal road shoulders and 100kph in parts. I would love to be able to ride this road - but common sense says NO. Please develop a vision and plan for safe connections between communities. Yes the Moruya to South Head connection needs to be completed - but we need far more than this.
4Robin Salmost 2 years agoFriendly for Wildlife
Be far more than tokenistic on our treatment of the natural inhabitants. Preservation of habitat must trump development for humans. Clear felling, corridors, studies that highlight the flora/ fauna but are ignored disrespects the very thing we love about the area. We know selling land is one way of raising revenue but NOT at any impact.
3CharlieBellalmost 2 years agoAn inclusive community. We need to provide the services needed for all our residents to have safety, security and a place to live.

synchronicityalmost 2 years agoStop cementing over everything. Including curbs. I don't want to see ugly cement curbs/gutters/drains in my street!! They are not needed.
Part of the reason this is a tourist destination is so that people can get away from the concrete jungle. Look at the "white elephant" footpath/drain at the Northern end of Noad's road. Who decided to cement that over? No one walks there. It's ugly, please stop doing it. It's overdevelopment. The rest of the world (Europe) is mostly against it.

0CathRalmost 2 years agoCare for Country
We all have a responsibility to care for country and nature, nurture it, replenish it, and protect the environment for future generations.
14cdogalmost 2 years agoProtect the natural environment
We have a responsibility to preserve and protect our shire's biodiversity for future generations. It should not be sacrificed for anything - not new housing, or infrastructure. We should instead be looking to do things better and smarter than how we are now.

CathRalmost 2 years agoPrioritise and plan for sustainability, not growth.
A sustainable approach focuses on looking after what we have now, and planning how to retain it. Looking after housing equity, quality of life, environment, amenity, food security, employment. A Growth approach damages this.
